DougJ,

WHAT?? I mean WHAT? The war has absolutely NOTHING to do w/ this investigation. This is about bribery and our democratic leaders doing things which are illegal and unethical. I'm guessing you are as concerned as many in DC that the repbulicans, especially their leadership, are going to take a beating on this. Delay, Ney, Reed and others are likely going to get hammered. I guarantee if this were the other team, Democrats, at the center of it, you'd be all over prosecuting them, would you not? I believe we had soldiers in harms way during Clintons impeachment hearings, so by your reasoning, they shouldn't have gone on.

This is precisely the time for this investigation.

First, if you use the "we are at war" argument and suggest we wait until the war is over, we may wait until those who are guilty, their children, and their grandchildren all are long gone.

Second, this is a matter of urgent, critical importance. If these people who are supposed to represent their constituents are actually voting and influencing policy based on bribery, we can not get this resolved soon enough. This can not wait. If we want a true democracy, we have to get to the bottom of this asap. If bribery rules, democracy is a farce.

No matter who is guilty, I hope we find them and get them out of office sooner rather than later.

Wouldn't it also be interesting if a third party consisting of moderates could actually gain traction? Even if it was relatively small, a moderate party that ensured that neither the left nor the right could get a majority on their own would be a refreshing change.

The enemies of the United States win.

This is really not a time for this investigation. We are at war. There will be plenty of time for legliastic hair-splitting after the war is over. One can only hope that Ms. Fisher will step in and put this silliness to a stop before it emboldens our enemies to attack us again.

Who wins and loses?

The enemies of the United States win.

We all lose, because of these venal worms we elect to office from BOTH parties and our refusal to hold them to account because partisanship rules over what is best for the country.

Its not so much Gonzales I'd be worred about, but Fisher who is taking over for Comey, at least I think thats right. A republican for life, that has some attachments to Delay. Will she put the brakes on this? I'm not familiar enough w/ her and her history to know, but its a concern.
