We spend huge sums on public relations, but our leadership and the right does’t grasp this is a big, big money issue on what separates us from what we oppose.
Details.
They are perhaps the center.
I just started “the Assasins Gate” and came across a few telling statements on Democratic softness on terrorism.
Before Iraq Biden pushed Bush for more troops in Afghanistan *and* increased resources to safeguard Russian nuclear weapons and reasources. Neither was considered important by the administration.
The Clinton administration set up a system for cooridinating occupations between federal entities after problems in the Balkans and elsewhere. It was dissolved by the Bush administration.
People like the Bull Moose push the claim that Dems don’t take defence against terrorism seriously and it’s probably true of a lot of them. But Republicans seem to disregard the nuts and bolts for grand things.
Another thing coming out of Assasins Gate was that the Rummy/Cheney axis fought to control all aspects of the war and occupation even when they had no interest and committed no resources to the power they jealously fought for.
It was another element of this “faith based reality.” If you get the responsibility it’s good even if you do nothing because you’re good. Just don’t let others have a say.
Never mind what the President says. What does McCain say?
The Boston Globe reported this:
Where is McCain?
