"Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have received the Medal of Honor came from all walks of life, education levels; but most importantly represented what is great about America. We should be proud of all of them. Regardless if they went to Harvard, Berkley, Sanford or the school of hard knocks."

Thank you for your comments, markolinger.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that we should be proud of all our Medal of Honor recipients.

Highlighting one group of recipients does not dimish the honor and appreciation all other recipients have earned, regardless of whether they have gone "to Harvard, Berkley, Sanford or the school of hard knocks."

I hope you'll have the chance to browse through the probably dozen or so articles I have written honoring Medal of Honor recipients from all walks of life. Just google my name, Dorian de Wind, Medal of Honor and The Moderate Voice.

Thank you

"

The President, in the name of Congress, has awarded more than 3,400 Medals of Honor to our nation's bravest Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen since the decoration's creation in 1861. For years, the citations highlighting these acts of bravery and heroism resided in dusty archives and only sporadically were printed. I n 1973, the U.S. Senate ordered the citations be compiled and printed as a Committee on Veterans' Affairs report. This book was later updated and a reprint published in 1979.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have received the Medal of Honor came from all walks of life, education levels; but most importantly represented what is great about America.
UC Berkley Medal honor winners

Jimmy Dollitte went to UC Berkley. Didn't he win Medal of Honor?

Cal had compulsory ROTC until the 1960's so I wouldn't be surprised if there are others. Certainly California certainly has contributed more to the nation's defense than the more politically conservative Sanford across the bay. A large number of the scientists who developed the atomic bomb came from Cal including Opheimhier.
