I vote for hog killing and processing on the White House lawn. It can be filmed and sold to the pork lobby for advertising.

Dear Moderate Voice: President Coolidge was not campaigning on the Indian reservation when his “ridiculous” photo wearing a war-bonnet was taken. Those images are from the summer of 1927 in South Dakota; the same summer Cal announced that he “did not choose to run for president” in 1928. However, it was in 1925 that Native Americans became citizens of the US and 30th President Coolidge was our first president to acknowledge that he had “Indian blood.” His solemn and respectful demeanor was much appreciated by his Indian brothers but, of course — looks “ridiculous” to us today.

And what's wrong with a turkey slaughter? Is that any different than “slaughtering” defenseless corn and lettuce in the name of sustinence?

As to the turkey, that breed is one where the thing will die soon anyway. It will probably die of heart failure within the year. The cornish meat chickens grow so fast that sometimes their heart becomes overburdened and just fails. We once got one to live just long enough to breed our more hardy hens by cutting back his feed and forcing him to forage for a living. This kept his weight down long enough to allow him to come of breeding age. We crossed him to our flock and now we have much hardier meat birds that will soon be in the freezer. No pardons for those cockerels. The hens will get to sit on eggs though through the next couple of seasons until it will be time for them to be soup as well.

And if you wanted the conventional turkey treatment (dinner!), I must ask: What if the turkey's name was Hope or Change?

And don't worry — he's not likely to pardon the terrorists who will go on trial sometime.
