People are upset about the amount of debt the country has, they know that it is bad news for the future america, and they care.
These people are by and large center right, and the news media both old and new are doing their vague patriotism a disservice by missattributing the spending that we now all lump into "the deficit". These people want someone to blame and the media have been all too happy to point the finger, its Bush II, its Wall Street, its Obama, its Bailout.
The understanding of our fiscal crisis is the key to the next election.
I think Obama and the democrats by refusing to have public hearings (Pecora Commission) on the Crash and Bailout are letting themselves be painted as fiscally irresponsible, even though the choices were few, good choices absent.

dear Joe

This analysis is an example of what brought me here and keeps me returning. You try hard to understand and be fair, and harder still to inculcate fairness and moderation in others, readers and writers. Thank you & please, please, please, do not quit.

Two things I learned about our President in the last election. #1 the man has more lives than a basket full of kittens so when you think he is down you best look right behind you. #2 he plays long ball...well and he has the patience to do so and make it work. If the republican party would learn the two above rules they would likely be able to throw him off his game, right now they continue to play his game.
