Unlike Iraq, Afghanistan was the breeding ground for an attack on the US. Bin Laden's network trained there with impunity and plotted their work there. Also, Pakistan, after ignoring the terrorists using the border with Afghanistan as cover is finally making some headway with the terrorists in their own back yard. We can't stop now that we no longer have the distraction of Iraq and Pakistan is getting their act together as well. Now is the time to push and get this done.
