Religious fringe nuts are so funny to watch whether they be Pat Robertson on the left, or Jeremiah Wright on the left. Its almost like watching a Darwin Award winner, just without the death. Studidity while tragic is also amusing in a perverse sort of way.

Of course Wright isn't on nearly the same level as Robertson when it comes to a lifetime of national exposure. Most Americans didn't even know who he was before 2007. Can you name any left-leaning "religious fringe nut" who is actually comparable to Robertson in this way?

I'm pretty sure a strong argument can be made to put Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton in this 'club'. Then again, I've always felt Robertson was in a camp all of his own. Maybe he's friends with the Westboro Baptist loons.

I was gonna say. Talk about living in a glass house and throwing stones...
Christians are not suicide bombing. No. Instead the fundamentalist [and I use the term loosely] ones are praying as a group for the world to end. And they're representin' in a nation that has the nukes to do it.
No wonder nobody likes us.. : (

Damn. Here I always thought we were waiting on Christ, not the nukes, to do that. My bad.

Interesting challenge, J Spencer! I'm not sure they have the stature of Robertson, but a left-leaning Rev. who (like Robertson) ran for President is the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Also, there's the Rev. Al Sharpton. Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam is way out there on the left. If you count belief in UFO's as "religious," how about good old Rep. Dennis Kucinich?
