Thanks for the sentiments, though. We are far from perfect parents; I particularly am hard to live with (being raised by a bi-polar Dad had its own set of unique challenges for my kids).

But as you said, love them unconditionally, be there to provide advice and suggestions without controlling their lives, and support their life choices even if they are not what you would prefer, and you do end up with a lot of love and respect back and forth.

BTW – one other key. Finding a partner that can tolerate you without tolerating your negative side, and who helps you grow as a person throughout your life together. I was a seriously screwed up young man, and I would be nothing today without my wife and her family's support. Meeting and marrying her is my luck and big break in life.

Going to college full time makes sense. She'll do well. Nothing is better for one's self-esteem and attitude than accomplishing goals.

And of course Vicki has your (and your wife's) loving support, which means more than anything else to her. I don't know who's luckier- you for having such a wonderful family willing to sacrifice for others or your family for having such a caring and supportive husband and father.

Thanks for asking. I had put a quick update up the other day, but I have noticed you haven't been around as much, so you must not have seen it. You don't have like a life or something do you?

Anyway, to repeat my last Vicki post (and expand it a bit), Vicki is doing well. Rehab is slower than she wishes (I think she thought as soon as she was back home, everything would magically be back to normal!), but despite the occasional moments of frustration, she continues moving forward.

Today in fact she is down getting her new retired military ID, then going to the college to arrange her GI Bill paper work. She has decided to go back full-time this spring semester rather than just part-time to start, and is probably going to get her own place to live in January. She says she is happy here with us, but she is 20, and just feels the need for her independence. We support her decision, of course.

I guess when the media is skewed toward your own liberal agenda, you don't mind lies so much.
