They need to grow up, but you need to correct the “18th century” accusation, which falls flat; the Constitution, and our system of government, has been altered numerous times since then. (There's also the observation that many lefties selectively support some parts of that “18th century” system, albeit in abusing these, but they still refer to these things, like the First or the Fourth [and Fifth!] Amendment, frequently, for example.)

It's still a Frankenstein, as correctly noted already — a regressive example of anti-”development” in this country. At least the loonier, more “ambitious” (and more Frankensteinian) lib Dems will be muzzled. Hanging qualifications or other pieces of political-acceptance candy on the public option actually works in favor of passage, in contrast to what the more childish libs offer with their, ahem, unrealistic stances.
