As I said they are the ones who are actually threatened by the Taliban because they all have Muslim populations. In addition the Chinese have a copper mining operation in Afghanistan.

Isn't it remarkable how consistent F_T is in his approach.

1. Too bad for the urban, secular, educated and modern of Afghanistan. It's OK to leave them to the rural, etc.
2. Too bad for the gays (everywhere). It's OK to leave the rights of a minority up to the will of a majority.

Also consistent: "we must survive." In case 1, "we" are the US and its allies. In case 2, "we" are heterosexuals.

I have said all along that we are wasting our people, treasure and time in Afghanistan. If we had an infinite supply of these then we could continue to play big shot good guy, but we are simply not as big nor as good as we have perceived ourselves to be.

I still cannot help but wonder what will happen to the, “urban, secular, educated and modern of Afghanistan”, after we have left them to the, “rural, religious, illiterate and traditional”?

Well no matter, we must survive and that is the right thing to do.
