"And why should other networks follow MSNBC's example and see their ratings fall in a similar manner?"

Because it's politically correct, a.k.a. "patriotism" re-defined.

"they knew that if they could infiltrate the media, then they could control how and what people think because the media is what determines people's social views of themselves and how they view the world politically"

True, though it has evolved naturally, as well. Note (especially after the 1972 election, which succeeded the radical later Sixties and the McGovern campaign) that the Democratic Party itself as well as liberalism changed, and that such people not only swamped the media but also government, as well as (this is related to information and "education") academia. (Not only the college campuses, which were liberal places previously, just radicalized; but also earlier grades of schooling, and teachers' unions, which have been liberal to outright militant, and other examples of schools such as the "nuclear" or "peace education" anti-Reagan-and-West, pro-USSR movement in the 1980s. I even have a book written by an organization facilitating such actions, and review it periodically to wonder if education will also be politically corrupted by environmentalists in the same way, and already we have one news event where classroom kids were reciting poems about Obama -- political personality cult worship behavior.)

Some may argue that either MSNBC or PBS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DNC, but with each having about 1 or 2 percent of total viewership, neither is a nationwide player

And why should other networks follow MSNBC's example and see their ratings fall in a similar manner?

I agree that the media does not educate its viewers enough, which is why a lot of Americans are misinformed on a lot of issues. I believe that this is in part due to the democratic take over of a lot of the news stations like CNN, ABC, AND NBC, which only want to over saturate its viewers with the leader of its party to brainwash people into voting for him in 2012. I think this was probably the plan of the liberals all along, because they knew that if they could infiltrate the media, then they could control how and what people think because the media is what determines people's social views of themselves and how they view the world politically.

-Nikki-

It is not just people under that age, people over that age have a great deal of difficulty with many things they have tuned out and the middle and the non-voting public tend to tune out not only politics but history as well which is a frightening combination.

To be honest I would rather debate an idiot that cared than a genius that does not. I would also rather battle it out with a Fundie then hear a presidential election year Dem agree with everything I say(mostly because if they are agreeing with everything I say they are not listening).

A couple of years ago I went to a newspaper convention as a vendor and ran into a guy that had worked for a major paper in CO for 20 years in the news division, I do tech support for software just so ya know. We began talking politics at which point every time he brought someone up I would note the first administration they worked for and what scandals they had tied to them plus what ones had and had not been debunked or prosecuted and which ones had pardons and from who. He was stunned, after a long conversation involving a good deal of Wiki searching, by my direction since this is how I memorized so much data, he was confused why I cared so much and it was then that I realized we had a large problem in this country. We should all care that much, in fact we should care much more than doing research and speaking the truth we believe is truth but most people would rather just pick up McD's and watch some Hannah Montana.

Back to the Obama point I can see being sick of hearing from him but seeing and hearing him means he is working and we have an incredible amount to work on right now. We did not hear much from Bush at this point because other than a few flurried months after 9/11 he was on vacation, we did not hear as much from the legislature because they were running short weeks though we paid them full time. In other words we are hearing about them much like you said because they are doing something or making news. If they stopped things would be silent but would anything be done or would we just sit back for 8 years and wait for the next president to do everything that we should have in Obama's 8 yrs and Bush's 8 yrs and that presidents time as well, of course they will basically always be in the news since they will be so busy but that is the price for action.

I do love my Newshour, to be honest if a news program is not a little boring I assume they are lying to me or showing me only entertainment news, of course I learned this while watching 24/7 news channels in the late 90's and early 00's where thats basically what they did (that and invent news, Y2K! Y2K!)but it is still a lesson learned.

"The Democrats need to wrestle complete control over NBC, CBS or ABC news and move on with their own dedicated mouthpiece. Some may argue that either MSNBC or PBS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DNC..."

The lib and Dem infusion of the media (which makes Fox such a striking exception, which in turn makes them the target of the wrath of everyone else) has far, and for so much longer (decades!) dwarfed Fox and its conservative (and coincidentally Republican) recent filling of the vacuum (and countering of, often, lib and Dem propaganda) elsewhere.
