My oldest brother got his PHD from Texas A&M. Texas A&M and University of Texas football game was as prominent as turkey on Thanksgiving and gig em Aggies along with all the Aggie jokes was a constant in my family. . . .the undergraduate college i graduated from changed over to West Texas State to West Texas A&M University after i graduated. . .Does anyone know what you call yourself or what name one would use for forms when a University changes affiliations or name after one graduates?. . .I have not known???. . .it is a bit like being abandoned. . . .

Oh what a grand idea. I remember the last time a young and controversial president hated by the establishment underground was [sweetly] invited to Texas…actually that's not exactly true, it happened the year before I was born but boy was it in the news since then! I always get a shudder too when I notice they're counseling Michelle to dress like Jackie with the tailored midrifts, pillbox hats, half jackets and so on….

As long as she wears a tinfoil hat she will have nothing to worry about I'm sure, why don't you make a loner of yours? =D

Dallas and north Texas, it substantially different than Houston, which is different that West Texas, and the panhandle is a whole different world. And Austin is truly one of my favorite places in the U.S. Wonderfully weird as they like to say.

Yes, Perry's rhetoric has been over the top, but the state is much more than that. Guessing you are on the other side of the aisle than Perry and Bush, keep in mind its also the home state of Molly Ivins, Jim Hightower and Lyndon Johnson.

Texas has some really, really wonderful people, among the warmest and friendliest you'll find anywhere. There are great traditions and fabulous places to see and visit. I recommend Austin and the River Walk in San Antonio. Take in a Texas barbecue. Go to a country/western bar, have a cold one (or two) and let one of the locals teach you the two step.

Perry might be a dipstick, but Texas and its people are ok and then some.

I ponder on how easy it would be to blame it on “some random copycat shooter” “a tragedy” yadda yadda. I don't think this president should be within three states proximity to Texas during his entire presidency. The governor there is trying to rig execution-stays in favor of innocent-kills fer crissakes.. And isn't he, besides the FBI/CIA, the one who would ultimately wield the pressure for outcomes of any subsequent investigations? And it's clear that this administration's grip on the those other agencies is a bit slippery.

If I was sitting at Obama's right hand I'd caution him away from that engagement. Flatly I'd grab him by the arm and not let him go. The State of Texas sucks and has all but declared itself an enemy of the Union.

First. congratulations on being an honorary Aggie.

Second, for explaining the “gig 'em” Aggie cry. As an Aggie, I have to admit I had not heard that one.

A&M has many interesting, nice tradiditons. One of the nicest is getting to stand up during the entire football game (well, that one is not the nicest one), and kissing your wife or girl friend every time the team scores.
