Old Charlie Rangel may have to go. They vote themselves pay raises so we cannot allow them to vote themselves defacto immunity also. If anyone needs to obey the law, it certainly is the people that make them.

It would be funny, indeed, if Congress has (or still has?) some of its employees on half-time status to avoid paying things like health benefits. Oh, and is it complying with health and safety and labor laws?

Charlie should be removed ASAP. If the Dems want to keep their super majority, they need to stay clean. The Rep party is going to use Charlie as one of their main tools in 2010.

"Look at the dirty Dem party, first oral sex in the White House, now tax evaders leading the Ways and Means Committee"

It should make for nice talking point.

DrE explained it best. As a rule, I rarely respond to comments. Sorry, I haven't checked back on what I guess was my Saturday's post on who nominated Obama. However, I do reply to all legit inquiries to me on my email which is jkremmers@gmail.com I don't twitter, facebook or any other social networking. I'm just an old guy who loves to write politics and anything else that strikes my fancy. I've already had my glory days and spent two small fortunes accomplishing it. That's the verbal deal I struck with Uncle Joe Gandleman who graciously allows me to post on tmv. hi, just a note, and I'll talk to the other moderators about adding a para perhaps in the Commenters' Rules at TMV so it's a bit clearer ...different writers at TMV have different ways of writing and different ways of responding to comments... or not.

All writers at TMV are told it's up to them if they want to respond to comments. There's no requirement to respond. Many writers here have day jobs, young families, elders to take care of. They may not respond for those reasons, or because they are already onto the next article's work (and it is work, most of our writers spend huge amounts of time when writing an article for TMV, researching, checking, rewriting, coding HTML, tagging, uploading links, UL pix, and thumbnails, etc. Wordpress is not a fast drag and drop outfit.)

It ought not be taken as lack of interest --or as required-- that writers do or dont often or ever make comments back. Some dont read comments. Some do. Some read some comments and not others. Most depends on time and committments.

Obama will reform Medicare and save Social Security, too, before Rangel is removed from his chair.

It remains to be decided how all of the health care “reform” and the “public option” will be paid for, and there's nobody better as a good Dem representative to head this effort than Charlie “I have a problem with pay-as-you-go” Rangel.

Allow me to be a bit cynical, but I'm sure Rangel's issues are shared with most of the critters in Congress, on both sides of the aisle. He has managed to spin this story in his favor, and it doesn't seem like he's going to be getting ousted from his chair anytime soon.

What should happen is for every member of Congress be subjected to a detailed public audit. That way, we wouldn't have to hear about all these tax problems when someone gets nominated for a cabinet seat.
