DLS- what goes around comes around.

Rush has savaged the left for 3 hours a day for 20 years and is making 400 mill doing it- what a dream job. He's not accountable to anyone and his rants don't have to based on reality because he's an “entertainer”. For 8 years he defended an administration that came close to destroying America, but if anyone has the nerve to notice that in the media or in the WH, his ratings only improve.
Why should an anti-feminist judge the Miss America pageant? His misogynistic rants against women should knock him out of the running.
He's the male Ann Coulter— they thrive and profit on the white man's outrage, anger and discontent.

Susan — this quite liberal Web site defines “moderate” (or “centrist”), if not “right-wing” to be Brookings.

(Barbara Boxer is a typical “moderate” by this site's norm.)

As for the hatred directed routinely toward Limbaugh, and professional sports, we're now seeing the political savaging of Limbaugh because he might become an NFL team owner or part-owner, and so is subjected already to hatred, which, as usual, involves the typical, hypocritical bogus charges against Limbaugh (and so many people to the right of Barbara Boxer) as representing “hatred” [sic].

I see this is supposed to be an Internet hub for moderates. Could you please give me a link to someone who is actually moderate who posts here? Cause for my money the demonizing of Rush Limbaugh, who doesn't demonize anyone (he criticizes, and strongly, lots of people but he rarely calls anyone who hasn't actually killed someone else evil) For my money, if you think conservatives are not acceptable in polite society, you aren't really a moderate.

Superdestroyer, by the way, I hadn't even thought of men controlling the fashion industry as a response to you but since you bring it up.... Sure, if a man knows what makes a woman look beautiful then why shouldn't he judge a beauty pageant, whether he's straight, gay, in the fashion industry or just someone with exceptionally good taste?

Personally I think if a gay guy (or straight, or a woman) knows how to bring out the natural beauty of a woman to be a judge at the Miss USA beauty pageant. I'm not sure why anyone would object to the designer of this being a judge at Miss America if he happened to be gay.

If people are going to complain about Rush Limbaugh judging the Miss America pageant, then they would also need to complain about having a militant gay man whose entire stick is being snarky and outing gays from judging a beauty pageant. I know you will say that gay men really run the women;s fashion industry but the fashion industry is separate from the beauty pageant circuit. Why was a gay man judging a women's beauty pageant. That would be like having a straight man judging a gay beauty pageant.

Rush Limbaugh's comment on the NFL was about the political correctness of the media and had nothing to do with black players. It is that the media has a double standard when it comes to covering black quarterbacks and white quarterbacks. What is interesting since that time is the number of black quarterbacks has gone down and several very high draft picks like Vince Young and Demarcus Russel have been total busts. In the long run, Rush was closer to the truth than his critics.

Rush was forced to resign from his gig as a sports announcer because of a racist crack at Donovan McNabb. I wouldn't say that it was a mistake for ESPN to have hired him in the first place; he hadn't–as far as I know–been notorious for making that kind of remark about minority athletes previous to that. But that the Miss America Beauty Pageant would choose him as a judge after his long record of misogyny? That is a serious lapse of judgment on their part. They may as well announced to the world, “We have long been suspected of thinking of women as sex dolls and not as human beings. The people who thought that were right.”
