The "stimulus" effort was not stimulative, but was just vote-buying reckless spending (no wonder lib Dem hacks like Krugman claim that the problem was that the stimulus wasn't large enough), and there's no need to stupidly rush to do more of the same, any more than there is a need to rush to engage in sloppy health care "reform," political "climate" legislation, or anything else. As for the current claim that began this thread, "jobs" was the obviously refrain, obviously, at the start of the earlier "stimulus" effort -- it is not anything new now (although an actual attempt to boost [real?] jobs this time would be Change [tm]).

I'd agree, nthomas, but not a single respected economist, liberal or conservative, thinks that cutting government spending in the middle of a recession is a good idea.

It's not that the stimulus bill wasn't big enough, the problem is that the Obama administration is creating more debt to try to get out of debt, which is like trying to fight fire with fire. Bad Idea. The fire just gets bigger.

-Nikki-
