Limbaugh: “Why would anyone reward the Olympics to such a crappy place as the United States of America?”

So it's OK for a Republican to call America a crappy place, but it's not OK for a Democrat to say that they are really proud of their country, whether it's for the first time or the 50th time?

  2. JeffersonDavis says:

I'm pretty sure he was paraphrasing Obama when he said “America is a crappy place” since Obama had been apologizing for us to the world. (I can't believe I just defended Rush Limbaugh! – don't make me do that again, please.)

But they are right when they say the partisans are off the deep end with this. They are. It isn't the GOP and it isnt the DNC, it's the partisans of both parties that do this kind of crap. I'm sure you're as tired of it as I am.

Unfortunately, there was much to apologize for after the Bush years. That doesn't make America a crappy place to live– it just means we regret our mistakes, and realize we need to build alliances- not make or unite existing enemies. But the standard Conservative mantra is that Liberals hate America.

What could be more about hating America than rejoicing when we don't win the chance to host the Olympics?

BTW, I notice that Rush is still relishing the use of Obama's middle name- so that his listeners can associate him with Islamofascism.:-)

Indeed, the Limbaugh remark is far above too many little, currently-resentful heads.

Some far-lefty talkers on the radio are predictably misstating this as a defeat for the USA when it was a defeat for Obama personally (and his blatant lobbying) and for Chicago and his Chicago clique. (Many in Chicago metro itself were not fans of this effort or actually opposed to it.)

The big question how much of this was elitist arrogance and conceit by Obama and his crowd, how much of this may have been associated with financial and other interests in Chicago who stood to gain directly from an Olympic hosting and tax-money infusion, and how much of it was due to ineptitude and misreading the public (the mainstream, politically, as opposed to play-pen “progressives”), for one of the consequences of this sordid lobbying effort was a deliberate distraction and robbing of momentum from the health care “reform” [sic; federal takeover] effort. Ironically, the loonier lib Dems in the House are at this time more reliable proponents of health care “reform” than the President. Damage control time, BO.

Believe me, DLS we libs have Limbaugh's number. To be honest, I don't understand how you can consider yourself a moderate, and still listen to this idiot.

And what would you have said if the Daily Kos had cheered a defeat by Bush to get the Olympics situated in Houston? Scarborough is a reasonable conservative that I often agree with — he's on the money this time.
