Well, I don't see this being prosecuted in practice, but it is a good idea. Scientists are required to disclose funding for a particular project, especially if that project involves the investigation of the funders products. But even within academia, this does not always happen.

No, the FTC has jurisdiction over consumer products, not political candidates. But Facebook is interesting. The guidelines apparently do apply to Facebook fan pages.

Soooo, does this apply to political campaigns also? Say a particular Presidential candidate's campaign pays an army of bloggers to go online and pretend to be average citizens supporting that candidate. Must those bloggers disclose the payments made by the campaign for their services?
