Michael Steele (or anyone else in that position) has his work cut out for him. The GOP is not only coming off of a huge upset of an election cycle, but is almost as splintered as the Democrats. The Republicans are on a rebuilding year, much like a football team.

They'll take their lumps, recruit better talent, and go on to compete on the Championship level.

The Republicans are learning the problems of hiring a quota black. You give up performance, ability, and competence in order to get some politically correct creed. Michael Steele would be managing a Jiffy Lube if he was white but gets admiited to top tier universities, get to be an Lt. Gov, and gets to head a so-called major political party because he is black.

Maybe the party that should be against minority set asies, quotas, affirmative action, and race based governance should realize that there are real world reasons to be against them.

You make an excellent argument- too bad Steele didn't think of making it.

He is in the midst of discovering that the Republican party is currently a snake pit where outrageously angry conservatives are the voice of the party. His is a no win position. I'm not a fan of his (I campaigned for his opponent in Md Senate race in 2006) but it is obvious that he is powerless to change the direction of the party to include moderate voters.

MS is probably wishing he had won the US Senate race against Cardin.
