Enjoyed the post and I agree with Kathy's comment. Every one of the dictators we oppose (probably about 2% of the brutal dictators on the planet. We ignore the others) is another Hitler. And sure as there are scared children, some of our population can be whipped into a frenzy of fear and launched into futile, costly and pointless war. I guess we're all doomed because we were unable to “negotiate” or use “diplomacy” with nuclear North Korea, Russia, China and Pakistan. Too bad they've taken over the world, eliminated Israel and India and of course South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. It's really too bad these nuclear tyrants can't be reasoned with and as sure as Israel is a pile of cinders now, we are all doomed.

The reporter for the Arab Times reiterates what we moderates and conservatives have been saying all along. It is more than likely that Ahmadenijad cannot be bargained with. It was true with every “generation's despot” that said one thing while planning another (Hitler, Stalin, Nasser, Hussein, etc). Can diplomacy prevail with Iran. I doubt it. I truly hope it can, but I doubt it. The President wagered our butts on diplomacy's success. I'll be praying that President Obama is right on this one.

Kuwait is a Sunni Kingdom, and, our friend. It may be that the powers that be in Kuwait are getting nervous. Millions of Shia Muslims right across the border in Iraq are greatly influenced if not controlled from Tehran. They might indeed be envisioning another invasion, this time by the Iranians. If so, I think it not a stretch for the Kuwaitis to worry that the United States may not go to war against Iran in order to liberate Kuwait again. Especially if Iran is nuclear armed.

As your graphic suggests, those who have no imagination or ability to assess each threat on its own merits, are always going to need a template, and apparently the “Everyone we don't like is another Hitler” is starting to get old.
