In America there is at least some truth to meritocracy. In other parts of the world your family and friends' connections means everything. Speaking as an American, even if his family is Jewish, it doesn't change the fact of who he is today and his actions. It's his actions which should be judged. However his family background is more important to other people. Though I'm sure Mahmoud has proven his loyalty to his Iranian backers time and again.... perhaps beginning with the American Embassy hostage situation in the 70s...<br><br>In other words, it doesn't matter to me who is family is, but we should judge him on his actions. And he has the support of the Iranian clerics because he has proved his loyalty to them time and again. He will continue to follow the Iranian hardliners. That is what is important to me. If proof were determined by a single British newspaper we'd all be in trouble (mind you I'm not saying it's not possible, but it needs to be investigated before people start repeating rumor as fact).
