Who, now does not want him locked up! She don't care why should my tax dollars get spent?

Ha. as if Polanski spending even one more hour or his last breath in prison going to matter to man or
woman who has the money from changing their mind on flight from justice, that's just silly thinking! " (3) His wealth and fame should work against him as there needs to be some effort at equalizing punishment between the rich and poor in the world. "
You lost #3 when you said "should" knowing that it will not, and that he will use his wealth to his
advantage.

Because he is not working on a film you think it would be a good time for him to go to prison. Spoken
by a man who has never been locked up. When pray tell is a good time to go to prison?

I do not defend Mr. Polanski! I just don't see the point. Why bother? The girl don't care! I hate to see
tax payers money go to something so stupid. At 13 the girl could have had sex with a 15 year old boy
legally! So it becomes illegal when the man is "older" be it 16,17,18 or 40. Please some one inform me
what is the difference between a 15 year old penis and a 40 year old penis. Oh yea, about 10 years
in prison, but that's all. Even Deuteronomy of the bible has the crime as punishable by paying her
father 50 shekels of silver (about 1and1/4 pounds or 0.6 kilograms) or $260.00 I feel even with inflation
she has been paid. ch22 v28-29. Call it a day, let Polanski go and let's talk about feeding the hungry
or something that will really matter.

The inmates do not want to come back. Perhaps we can take our present summer camp-style prisons, remove the cable tv, a/c, etc; and make prison a place that is so dreaded, no on wants to return.

US: Federal Statistics Show Widespread Prison Rape

According to the report, released today by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), “Sexual Victimization in State and Federal Prisons Reported by Inmates, 2007,” 4.5 percent of the state and federal prisoners surveyed reported sexual victimization in the past 12 months. Given a national prison population of 1,570,861, the BJS findings suggest that in one year alone more than 70,000 prisoners were sexually abused.

“When nearly one in 20 prisoners reports being raped or sexually abused behind bars, it is clear that prison authorities are not doing enough to prevent these serious crimes,” said Jamie Fellner, senior counsel of the US Program at Human Rights Watch.

Yes everybody wants to return to prison so that they have the opportunity of having their anus stretched by some other guys penis...

New efforts help drop alarming inmate suicide rate in Calif. prison

Last year, a record 43 inmates killed themselves in California prisons — nearly half in isolation units. California’s rate of 25.5 deaths per 100,000 inmates is nearly double the nationwide prison suicide rate of 14 per 100,000, according to the federal Bureau of Justice Statistics.

Through Friday, 13 inmates had committed suicide, compared with 19 during the same period a year ago. Three were in the segregation units.

So much fun that people would rather hang themselves...

American prisons are full of people who don't belong there, who are living in overcrowded conditions, are at great risk of being sexually abused and just plain being physically abused. They should bring shrieks of outrage form anyone with a modicum of human decency.

First of all, Polanski admitted the incident. Although death is warranted in my opinion for such a crime, his sentence will most likely be within the stated “two tier system” of justice.

Secondly, “No convicted person should be subject to severe physical abuse from fellow inmates so that they leave prison more dangerous and broken than when they entered.”

I agree wholeheartedly. The penetentiary should live up to its root word “penetent”.
More prisons should follow the example of Sheriff Arpaio in Phoenix, who runs his “tent city” jail. He has an unprecedented low return rate. The inmates do not want to come back. Perhaps we can take our present summer camp-style prisons, remove the cable tv, a/c, etc; and make prison a place that is so dreaded, no on wants to return.

Thank you so much for this article and especially for the paragraph concerning the man who was executed in Texas in spite of a strong possibility of being innocent. Governor Rick Perry refused to delay the execution in spite of new evidence that might have proved the man innocent. Governor Perry is trying to silence the investigation that might raise questions about his lack of compassion and judgement.

There is too much fear mongering over reforming our criminal justice system.
