Letterman, Landgrabs and Lincoln, Oh My!

RadioMic.jpgBecause of a scheduling conflict yesterday, we’ve had to push back the line-up for our weekly show, Mid Stream Radio, to Friday morning at 10 am eastern. (An ungodly 7 am pacific.) We’ll be picking apart the fast breaking, though likely irrelevant David Letterman sexual affairs story, as well as a little reported attempt at a federal landgrab in Utah. If there’s time we’ll look at a few of the 2010 House and Senate races where incumbents may find a less than receptive voter base holding their fate in their collective hands.

You can listen in at the link above, join us for the usually lively chat (if you are already registered for a free user account at the BTR home page) or call in with your own questions and observations at (646) 595-3963. See you on the radio.

Letterman irrelevant? Maybe, but the real question remains, does Pat Buchanan have sex with the women he works with? The truth is out there....so go get it!
  • DLS
Letterman: it figures; he's the favorite liberal late-show host. Sleazebag.

More land grabs in the West? Where's Ken Burns and his dimwit cheerleader contingent to cheer it?

Jazz, note that one person in favor of the land grab is none other than "Social Security will be more valuable in the future if we leave it alone" [do nothing to save it during the Bush years when the Dims had their best chance in years] Hinchey.

Are the wacky lunatic lib Dems in the House (inmates running that asylum) really going to try this?

  • I treasure our National Parks and federal protected lands. The canyon country of the American Southwest is the most quintessentially American landscape there is. As far as I know there is nothing remotely like it anywhere. Lots of places have seashores, mountains, forests, wetlands and prairies. This is truly special. I applaud any effort to keep these amazing places pristine.
  • DLS - that Jazz' rep in DC is the sponsor of the bill is one reason why we decided to discuss it on our show this morning. We thought it would be a fun set up....

Green - go read my post on the subject. A large majority of the lands in question ARE ALREADY SET ASIDE as state parks. There is no reason for the feds to take them over except for the fact that it is just one more thing for the feds to run.

  • Hi LL. I did read that some are already state parks. I don't consider the federal government designating land as a national park rather than a state one to be any sort of "land grab." For example, people who love America's wild places can buy a parks pass that gets them into all our national, but not state, parks. Further, I think the National Park Service does a better job than Utah at managing park lands. Finally, National Park designation is more resistant to changing state fortunes. I think it's a good move.
