Sadly, Obama seems still to be aligning himself with liberal Democrats such as the loonies in the House.

The NEA and "arts community" propaganda stunt (more health care desperation?) didn't help him, either.

The main thing is that the GOP remains dysfunctional and sidelined (by the Dems in Congress, not only due to being lackluster themselves) and that more lib Dem lunacy will anger the public but won't guarantee another 1994.

Honestly I don't see the quote as a big deal. Everyone knows that the more Republican seats the more Obama will be forced to move away from the far left on issues. Thats why the smart play for Obama would be to move for the center now, before the center shifts further right, instead of hanging out with the Liberal wing of his own party.

Seems like you're blowing up the significance of this quote. I don't see how it changes the Republican strategy or gives them anything they don't already have.

I mean come on, it's common sense that winning seats away from the opposition will help your cause or harm theirs.

Whoopee… Another politician says something used by another groups of politicians. Now we'll see Joe Biden face and hear his voice all over in the run-up to midterms. If Republicans do gain significantly in 2010, the incessant cries of victory will be heard around the mountaintops as well as Democrats' frustrations. The “President Obama” is toast meme will circulate furiously. President Obama will continue to be “Professor Obama” and “welcome vigorous debate”. Yada… yada… yada…

YAWN!
