I'd pick a competent and boring policy wonk over an amiable dunce any day. Why do voters want the Average Joe/Jane making the country's most important decisions?

I mean we'd all like to have a beer with Joe the Plumber- maybe he should be the GOP's nominee for '12. We'd never have to worry about pointy-headed elites telling us how to run our lives!

he material portrays a George Bush closer to the George Bush who won in 2000 — someone who many Americans would (here comes the cliche) like to have a beer with (or, rather, who would have chosen to have beer with over Al Gore).

You should hire me as a lawyer despite the fact that I have never attended law school, the more important the case the better, I am a great guy to have a beer with.
