The cropping was pretty harmless and while Newsweek apparently wanted it to reflect Cheney's "red-blooded, steak-eating, full-throated defense of his views and values", I don't think it makes him look particularly blood-thirsty. He's just an old guy cutting steak. The press often is slanted and does often get it wrong, but this photo isn't an example of that. But to allege that the photo was selected and cropped to imply that Cheney is a butcher is a far stretch.<br><br>In addition to Newsweek's explanations, I can think of another one: depicitng Cheney's propensity to throw red meat to the base.<br><br>This week's cover of Newsweek features an electrical plug with the headline, "The case for killing Granny," with a sub-headline "Curbing excessive end-of-life care is good for America."<br><br>Wow, I can't wait for the interpretations of that.
