And can it be righted?

Being perceived as only being against things is not a winning political formula; the Democrats have been taught that lesson many times since the 1970s.

Conservatism seemed to break away from its philosophical moorings four years ago, anyway.

    The Conservative movement needs to return to Burke and Buckley. The Progressive movement needs to return to reality. There is hope though.

    They do . . . when it suits them and when it doesn't, . . . they don't.

    More Whig (fiscal "conservatism," right-sizing government, libertarian) and less Tory (and friendliness with Big Government and Dem Lite behavior).
