“Man With Gun Arrested During Obama Address”

Just-tweeted from matttbastard. The article linked from matt’s tweet is Associated Press, and I do not link to or quote from their articles, but I can and will link to mattt’s tweet. Apparently, an attentive security officer’s radar was triggered by the man’s attempt to park in a secure area. His car was searched (that’s a requirement for parking in that area, anyway), and they found a gun and ammunition in the trunk.

But, but, Kathy, “if you promote a radical agenda you will ruffle a lot more feathers of the crazies than you would with a moderate, well thought out and incrimental approach.”

…..somehow justifying their behavior ! God Bless America!

It's getting real scary out there..I just wish everyone would take a step back, deep breath, & think once in a while. =(

Not hypey enough. We're still missing the childish use of caps for silly over-emphasis and one or multiple exclamation marks.

There may be a bit of jumping the gun

You forgot to mention serial posting.

    Sorry…apologize in advance…forgive please…couldn't resist.

Really we don't know anything about this guys politics or what he was doing. Here in Texas there is almost kn place you can't go with a shotgun in the trunk. Some People put guns in their cars and don't touch them for years. He might be a nut or he might be forgetful. It's better to get the info before making the call. I will say for all the disagreements I have with Kathy she just laid out facts and didn't state an opinion without more to back it up.

Well, Ellis, some of us don't want the entire country to be like Texas. One of a place like that is more than enough.

And thanks for the reluctant compliment. :-)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Federal prosecutors have dropped a felony charge against a Virginia man arrested near the Capitol last night, but city prosecutors will pursue three misdemeanor counts against the motorist. Police say the man had two guns in the trunk of his car.

U.S. Capitol Police say 28-year-old Joshua Stewart Bowman of Falls Church, Virginia drove up to a security checkpoint at the Cannon House Office Building just as President Barack Obama was about to begin addressing a joint session of Congress.

Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said Bowman inquired about parking and was asked by the duty officer for permission to search his car.

The officer noticed a gun case in the trunk and ordered the driver to pull to a nearby curb. Police say Bowman complied.

According to charging documents officers found a semi-automatic shotgun, a .22 caliber rifle, and ammunition. Bowman told officers on the scene he was headed to the nearby Republican Club.

He was arrested on two counts of possession of an unregistered firearm and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition. Initially, he was also charged with a felony count of carrying a dangerous weapon.

According to a source in the U.S. Attorney's office, prosecutors concluded Bowman did not have an unlawful purpose. The felony charge was dropped, and the misdemeanor case was then referred to the D.C. Office of Attorney General.

Spokeswoman Erica Stanley says the city will pursue the misdemeanor charges against Bowman, who will face arraignment on September 25.

Looks like the Attorney General decided he wasn't a crazie, just a law breaker.

More ingnorant comments on this one thread than I can count.

    1. Man with a gun arrested by a man…..with a gun.
    2. Texas is an awesome state. Just one of a dwindling number of free states.
    3. I carry a weapon any time I go to DC. I have to at least try to outgun the one who wants to rob or kill me.

    and finally……

    2nd Amendment:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed, except during times when the President is speaking 2 blocks away.

Can't live without trying to be insulting every time you post.

It's still an open question if there will be additional threads on Wilson's shouting, or on protestors, next week, in addition to the excess number of threads already.

“Well, Ellis, some of us don't want the entire country to be [American]“

Edited for improved clarity and correctness.

    [grin]

  16. kathykattenburg says:

Nah, Ellis — I'm just an amateur at that game.

  17. kathykattenburg says:

Except for those who don't feel free to venture out their door for fear of being shot down by a crazed Texan with a gun and an itchy trigger finger.

You've hit the nail right on the head with your 2nd Amendment quote. Too many Americans think they are a militia, and act like they are a militia.

  18. kathykattenburg says:

“I shudder for my country when I reflect that Texas is America.”

–Thomas Jefferson, amended slightly to reflect what Jefferson might have said if he were alive today.

  19. DLS says:

Maybe the Louisiana Purchase isn't going to be regretted, Kathy, but I suppose you'll find (with no need to look elsewhere at all) that it was regrettable that Manifest Destiny and our imperialist and expansionist era included intolerance and punishment of secession.

Or would you like the GOP if they had remained Radical Republicans as during Reconstruction?

    [chuckle]
