Had they gotten away with this garbage, and they been in worse shape later this year than they are now with health care, you would have seen “Action Activities” from the 1982 manual I've written about — have the school kids write letters to the editor of newspapers (and on-line), wear “health care now” buttons or “save the planet” buttons, hold marches for health care or for the planet, etc.

It's because of his never-ending “campaign” and personality cult and a pattern this year of increasing federal intrusion, and ever-worse leftist fringe politics, for starters. Add to that the original “lesson plan” scandal, and even the phrase that involved scummy extremist politics by Obama himself earlier this year — “teachable moment,” reeking of totalitarianism as well as extremism, in fact. As I have also written today, this reminds me of the deliberate extremist political infiltration of education (about which teachers' unions have already had a sordid history), in the case of USSR Fellow Traveler nuclear “freeze” or “war and peace” “education” activism. (I wrote specifically about the 1982 copy of the manual for educators that I own and was reading, during such a timely occasion, this weekend, by Educators for Social Responsibility.) There's no reason that a generalist Obama-worship and damage control effort for a partial health care takeover now can't be followed up later by application of the kinds of methods “ESR” listed for activist educators in the “freeze” era then, to apply to “global warming” or to health care later this year or in subsequent, more active years. (Accompanied, no doubt, by medical school education on “climate change,” etc., and global warming as well as gun violence as “public health” issues.) Thoughtful, informed people think of this and more when seeing Obama's increasingly extremist and alien political record this year and the “campaigns” (like leftist “revolutions” that are perpetual) and personality cult phenomena that rival those of, say, Castro.

As I've written, don't be surprised if the Education and related people don't collaborate with the likes of Educators for Social Responsibility, and later rely on “reliable” outside sources of information in the schools such as Physicians for a National Health Program for health care, or Greenpeace on climate, etc.

Now to be fair, Ed does the same to Reagan in his speech to schoolkids 23 years ago. But I'm sorry, using word search on any speech and attempting to draw conclusions based on the frequency of the words is a little nutty.

At the same time, Ed and other peoples' point on this thread stands that the WH could've released the speech beforehand, and the response from the Right would have been muted. I have a sneaking suspicion that the WH saw this as a “judo moment” where Obama, to the delight of his base, baited the Right into nutty, semi-racial attacks before rebuffing them yet again. Anyone agree?

President Obama will talk to students from Pre K thru 12th grade about personal responsibility and the importance of staying in school, White House aides said.

As one of the preparatory materials for teachers provided by the Department of Education, students had been asked to, “Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. “

You absolutely refuse to admit that the Department of Education had lesson plans to go along with this speech, don't you?

No president has been stupid enough to indoctrinate children. Now that the lesson plans have been pulled, that precedent won't be set tomorrow. Now, everyone should shut the heck up and just let the man be president…..
