« Betting On Tulips And Houses Is So Passé…How About On Death?
Reflections on a statement by Edward R. Murrow on Senator Joseph McCarthy and an “Age of Unreason” »

Does anyone still believe that the Republicans entered into negotiations on health care with a good faith belief that compromise could be achieved? Rudy Giuliani certainly does. On Meet the Press this morning, Giuliani explained why he believes it was President Obama who never made a good faith effort to bring Republicans on board.
This clip shows Giuliani was given his due to explain his side of the debate. But when Harold Ford Jr., chairman of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, got turn to speak, he effectively rebuts Giuliani point for point. Note how early in the clip Ford has to bite his tongue while waiting to get a word in edgewise.

“he effectively rebuts Giuliani point for point”
It seemed to me to be another case of talking past one another. Yes, Democrats are right to point at the Republicans didn't pay for their programs. But how does that address the concern that Guliani raised: that if you're not going to consider other cost-saving measures like those he mentioned, how do you pay for the bill (and they have committed to pay for it) without cutting benefits? There is a counter-argument to that, but it's not the one Ford responded with (“Well, at least we're paying for it”).
“Note how early in the clip Ford has to bite his tongue while waiting to get a word in edgewise.”
Noted. An impressive tongue-bite.
He reached out….with empty hands
