"We really need to do away with Czars."

The association with that term to totalitarianism, though rational, is actually the least problem here.

The problem with the Czars isn't even that these are people appointed who have no Congressional review or oversight (something that the Bush-haters would have screamed about in earlier years).

The main problem with the Czars is that they illustrate the ineptitude or the play-pen, little-lefty-kiddie amateurism of the current Executive branch (and being out-of-touch with the public, or at least all but the extreme left or the stupid, who don't care). All these people amount to in practice (at least based on what the public is permitted to observe) is the silliest kind of superficiality, and arbitrary creation of new bureaucracy -- these people are just figureheads where attention is supposed to be concentrated or directed. Big deal! (And with the non-material-value nature of these positions and people, comes government waste. Is this surprising?)

In addition to the extremist left politics, often of a degenerate or scummy nature, that Jones is the latest to represent (and a problem Obama has created for himself in allying himself with the lib Dems in Congress), there's also the note here that someone else made already -- that this administration is often amateurish. For example, how many of the high-level appointed positions remain unfilled? This is not economy in government that we're seeing, but ineptitude and stupid leftist kids playing government or playing "nation," when not stooping to much worse, repellent far-left politics.

As I thought this morning while on the road, it makes me wonder how many Obama voters and especially early Hillary Clinton supporters now wish she were President, and how many problems we currently see would not happen or have been permitted by her to happen.

Brown was surely a mistake who should have been vetter, Rumsfeld was fine as an appointment, he had great qualifications and nothing in his background that indicated he would perform poorly, he was confirmed by a Senate voice vote which shows how widely he was accepted by both parties. The fact that he screwed up after the initial phase of the War was not something that could be foreseen, although i do agree that Bush held onto him for too long. Still there was nothing wrong with his actual selection when he was appointed.

Yes, Obama's team should have done a better job of vetting Van Jones- though I really don't think his past activities are that terrible. But, unlike W, Obama knew to cut him loose early on. Think of Brownie, Rummy, Fredo, and turd blossom-- all of whom stuck around despite poor performances or involvement in illegal activity.

There's screw ups and then there's screw ups. Minor blip on the radar in my opinion (Van Jones). Personally I would like to see Republican and Democratic administrations be able to choose "get 'er done'rs" without invasive vetting where intestinal linings are scrutinized to see what baby food the candidate was fed when an infant. Cause we all know that we can tell so much from the type of Gerber that was ingested.

A Truther gets past the unilateral vetting process of the executive branch and you call it a minor blip????

This should raise alot of eyebrows. It would be like Joesph McCarthy being appointed as an advisor to Bush.

A major nujob made it in, the Executive branch's vetting process is incredibly broken. Its not the first example either.

EEllis,

If what someone wrote in their college thesis 20 years ago is relevent then what someone supported in 2005 or said in 2008 when they were 40 is very relevent. Reviewing the Wikipedia entry on Mr. Jones, his body of work on environmental issues is creating NGO to get government grants, organizing conferences, and sitting on boards of other government shake down organizations. Why did the Obama Administration decide that their green job czar should be a guy that had less than five years of experience.

"So basically when your young, you better have your crystal ball skills up so you can see where life takes you. That way, you can make sure your shut up and remain silent in hopes of becoming part of a presidential staff. So what's said in youth means you are always like that, right? Wow!
Convicted felons in the Bush administration? Nobody says boo.

Van Jones with a job in the White House not nearly as influential as those convicted felons, worse.

I'm very disappointed. If vetting doesn't catch convicted felons, then something is wrong with the system.

This was complete payback. Nothing more nothing less.

I'm hardly calling Van Jones a "great guy". My overall point is that "talent" isn't always squeaky clean. And if you are going to play the squeaky clean game, don't complain when the opposite team blows your guy or gal up as well. SD, am I now a documented racist and bigot for my past hardcore black nationalist views? Even though I have dropped that worldview? If I am (documented racist and bigot), what does that mean? I can't deal with white people (I think TMV staff would beg to differ)?

That's what I am saying! I've worked with a guy who used to roll with Skinhead types. We got along fine because he said he dropped that nonsense and he DEMONSTRATED that. Now if Van Jones was ran out of town due to his lack of qualifications, that would be just fine with me.

Rudi, How does having a HD from Harvard make someone an expert of employment, alternative energy, job creation, or the private sector. Brown had a JD too and that did not help. The bio in FAst Company basically describe Jones as a racial shake down artist. How was getting government grants doing to help the government create the conditions for an expansion of private sector jobs.

Are the rest of the czars in the Obama Administration the same Ivy league educated race hustler, shake down artist who get government grants and produce nothing.

I thought the progressives were going to down be apologist for the Obama Administration yet, here we are with progressives claiming that a documented racist and bigot is a great guy and just the guy to help create private sector jobs.

Lets compare the resumes of Brownie and Jones. One went to Harvard for a JD, one couldn't even run a horse association. One was the head of FEMA, the other is just an adviser without any real power.
Jones - In 2008, Time magazine named Jones one of its "Environmental Heroes".[4] Fast Company called him one of the "12 Most Creative Minds of 2008".[5]
Brownie - zip

After the Democrats made fun of Michael Brown and FEMA during the Bush Administration, I have noticed that no one of the left is asking why a race based community activist is the green jobs Czar. What does a professional shake down artist and activist know about environmental laws, jobs, or changing private job sectors?

the next question is how many other czars are just as unqualified for their positions?

"Bottom line, the administration royally screwed up and got busted. The door is now open for looking into the other Czars that did not get approved by Congress. Who knows what else will be turned up?"

Hmm... I think I heard the same on Daily Kos during the Bush Administration. American politics: A Beautiful Reflection! LOL!

"If you don't want to get caught with a hooker in a hotel room, don't hire the hooker."

I said that to Swaggert so many times but he just kept going to the White House to see President after President.

I do think you point out why maybe Repubs just ignore it, they do not want to validate it and all their supporters just ignore it. The Dems are bad because they listen, the Repubs good because they ignore it. I am not saying this is necessarily your personal opinion but I think it is largely how both sides work and view the issues.
