Objectively, he's among the dinosaurs of the pre-1980 liberal orthodoxy combined with radicalism that changed liberalism after the 1960s (and saw its way to government as well as media, and academia to a notable extent after Watergate, partly motivated by that event), that is obsolescent and dying with him and the rest of them.

as if there is anything noble about Rush Limbaugh.

Anyway…like him or not, he was a great servant of our country. Our democracy only works when strong intelligent people on both sides of any debate can deliberate, reconcile, and finally find common ground.

This is sad Jerry---and I am not referring to Dr. Estes objective and factual background essay.

But even more sad is those who, like Mr. Limbaugh, use such horribly tragic occasions---the terminal illness and the death of human beings---to advance their political agendas.

I hope, when his time comes, his critics (and I include myself in that category) will wait at least until this man is buried or cremated before telling the ignoble side of his story.
