The teacher announced that so and so, a high school football star, would be the editor. I could have cared less. I was just filling time. In fact, I spent most of the class reading books, but on the day that the weekly paper went to press, I would proofread the whole thing and do the necessary corrections.<br><br>Next spring, a baseball star came to me and started complaining about how the paper messed up the story on his almost no hitter. I told him to talk to the editor. He screamed, "You are the editor" and showed me the masthead which never changed and he was right. Checked back and I had been editor for at least six months.
