This is not a new phenomenon although I would agree that its more prevalent today. Also mentioned is Sandy Kofax. My take is that he was great, but for a limited number of years. Warren Spahn I think was the greatest LH that I have seen. He was so attached to the game that he went down to the low minors before he finally quit.
