I was riding my bike and playing back then.
What I take away from all the talk about Woodstock was that it was the celebration and culmination against comformity and yet, these people grew up to become the fearful, cautious, unimaginative, anti-progress, anti intellect, most conformist and angry generation ever.
They began with so much promise. They were the ones that changed a society for the better. They dreamed of going to the moon and managed to bring equality and civil rights to women and african americans, ect.
They were the ones that brought legal and health clinics and aid to the poor and innovated the programs and ideas that helped millions make a much better life for themselves.
As older adults they turned their backs on all of it. Despise the poor that they worked to help once as well as embracing the very racist thinking and stereotypes that they once berated and fought their parents about for their bigoted thinking.
The generation that innovated and embrace challenge and change grew into adults paralyzed by fear, believing all the most silly nonsense told to them by Rush and Fox news. They went from having democratic values to going to the far fringe of the rightwing.

Whoa...where did those 40 years go! It really does seem like yesterday. The energy of that time was...so positive and loving. It was everywhere I went in 1969. We were happy all the time whether we were high or not.
What do we do now...just sit back and "Retire" or do we finish what we started in the 60's? I say we get on with it.
We want an end to greed and selfishness and especially the attitude of profit over people..where did THAT idea come from?
We want peace not just the absence of war but a perpetual state of cooperation among people for the mutual benefit of all. Violence is never allowed to be a solution for ANY situation.
We are smart enough to develop renewable energy sources using the sun, wind, water and geothermal, feed everyone of the planet and provide health care for all. It's time to provided these basic human needs.
In 2009 Woodstock is the perfect concept to germinate those ideals from 60's in the soil of the 21st century and digital age and fertilize them with the ideas of the progressive-thinking youth of today.
And of course there will be a lot of great music!
Spread the word. Join WoodstockUniverse.com.

Peace, love, music, one world,
RFWoodstock
rfwoodstock@gmail.com

Now we are learning that uncontrolled capitalism is not the panacea as advertised. Life is more important than work or productivity, though these have their place.

One is less apt to be greedy if one cares for other people. Somewhere along the line, that aspect of community was entirely lost, Woodstock or not. Ethical profit margin is no longer taught as an ethic, thus business leaders are no longer considered leaders in general, but rather specialists in self interests.

Free enterprise should never suppress the basic individual freedoms of Life Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. Free enterprise is a lesser freedom than these.

Woodstock was merely an expression of freedom in prediction to the morally bankrupt self centric ideologies that we have seen in Carl Icahn, Michael Milken, Frank Lorenzo, T-Boone Pickens and many others.

The dirty hippie saw the future, and, was right.
