dear Brian, thank you for this. There's a saying in our Magyar/Mexicano family… when the oldest tree in the forest passes, the living trees remember their roots.

May you be comforted in regard to your father of Blessed Memory, Brian; may all your children be comforted especially, and of course your dear mother.

I stayed with my father's body overnight at the funeral home also, except they wouldnt allow me to stay in the building itself overnight, so I parked my truck outside the wall where he lay, and 'we' listened to the radio shows on the truck radio, the way we used to when I was a kid and he was a wise, know-nothing, alcoholic, beloved young father.

As I told Joe Gandelman when his dad passed over a year ago, the gravity shifts for us when a significant parent dies. He agreed mightily. THank you for sharing the shift; it is very poignant to those of us whose Dad's have passed too. And Moms.

I have had the privilege of assisting the adult children of a deceased congregant rush to Cincinnati for his funeral from both Israel and California.

This is a very private family event and you have made it very public. I don't know why you have done this, but I hope that in doing so it has lessened your grief and shortened your pain.
