I don't think Steve was bashing America, but merely stating a series of some well-known facts...

I also don't think the author has ever been to Iran or truly understands the complexities of Iranian politics...I can tell everything he wrote was the piecing together of different statements he took away from a bunch of other articles...no new information or accurate analysis was offered...

I think the author is misreading Iran...

Steve, Ross Perot could have won. I bet Pickens could give Obama a good run for the Presidency if he wanted.

Lets not run off America bashing when it doesn't make sense.

I would like to think that we in the US aren't having our candidates picked for us. But we are. We have a two party system that has very small differences between the two parties.

Iran has its Guardian Council pick a limited number of candidates who are allowed to be on the ballet.

States like Oklahoma only allow democrat and republican candidates to be on the ballot.

The good news is that the US hasn't regularly shot protesters since 1970, and has not allowed the KKK the US southern Basij militia to beat torture and kill dissidents.

I think the author is misreading Obama. Obama's first remark, first reaction, was to say that there isn't much different between either candidate. He eventually moved towards condemning Iran for murdering their own people in the streets and tampering with a democratic vote.

Personally, I don't care who it is...I just want it to be the person that won the vote. I believe that is how most Americans feel, and more importantly...Obama.

Thanks for a great analysis.

The US/Iranian relationship has been over simplified by Westerners for years. Let's hope this Administration does not go down the same path.
