After I vote, after I settle in to watch the incredible slow crawl of so called progress.....melting all the hateful glaciers at a pace one cannot stay awake to witness............When I am not hopeful or quietly mumbling self made prayers, that would be me you describe in the torn stained bathrobe, despotic leader of a nation of one.

Is there a difference between being told to do our bidding OR ELSE, or, having already done a deed so egregious there is no need for the OR ELSE, -- just put out the murder warrant.

Although you briefly reference it when you suggest "Same, same, it seems everywhere, in all religions, corporations, tree houses," and perhaps I am only repeating what you already underscore, it seems to me a Fatwa correctly can be issued by nearly anyone from adolescent in yonder tree house, corporate executive from boardroom, Pope from the pulpit or general in the theater of war.

Always in the name of manifest destiny or God or to protect our "interests, but are we not the largest issuers of fatwas in the world. Did the USA not issue a military fatwa against Saddam Hussein (remember the deck of cards)? Against all the chiefs of the American Indians? Where is the justice and are we not by omission tacitly agreeing somehow that the Palestinians have no claim or that Israel somehow should be allowed to get away with the murder and severe oppression of the original holders of the land deeds?

And there it was on Bill Moyers; a recently retired heath insurance executive, recipient of an incredible epiphany, admitting on national TV that the health industry industry issued a fatwa against Michael Moore before he released his expose documentary of the heath insurance business ("Sicko"). Apparently they decided to discredit the messenger, attacking the man, instead of the facts in his film.

i was just thinking about the headline, the word 'against;'... i am thinking the word 'on' or the word 'about' might be more accurate, for many fatwas of very past and recent times are not calls for murder. Therefore, not 'against' in a sense of calling for homicide/ suicide. But rather a ruling on something or about something or someone that may have effect, but not murderous effect.

still thinking ...

dr.e
