Eternal Moonwalk

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I’m sick of all the attention the media is giving Michael Jackson, too, but I promise you this is absolutely brilliant:

Studio Brussel, a publicly funded radio station in Belgium also known at StuBru, has created a very unique website as a tribute to Michael Jackson. The site is called Eternal Moonwalk and is a video slideshow of people, animals and inanimate objects doing Michael Jackson’s signature move. Each video clip is about 6 seconds long and a counter keeps track of the number of meters traveled as you watch…. There are currently over a thousand video clips on the site, each with a unique number. When you see one you really like, take note of the number. Then, whenever you want to see that clip again, enter the number in the search box and it will go into the queue to play among the next few videos. You can also submit your own moonwalk video to add to the collection. If you don’t know how to moonwalk, this short instructional video will teach you.

Watch it!

That's pretty funny. I had to force myself to turn it off from becoming too mesmerized in the humor and unending videos.
  • Funny and very cool. The amazing thing about the whole Michael Jackson situation (and humanity in general) is how one human can influence so many other humans regardless of how shady that single human's life is. The moonwalk will probably not be forgotten even though MJ's life is just full of nastiness.

Regardless, the Eternal Moonwalk site is another indication to how powerful social networking is.
  • Linden Lab employees in avatar form from virtual world Second Life had fun with this. We're one of the few non-flesh-and-blood humans to pay our respects... http://vimeo.com/5525442

"I'm sick of it, [comma required but if missing, implied pause -- then the predictable] _but_ ..."

How many times have we heard that? Or the same on here before Palin Thread #100+?

Actually, the moonwalk stuff is great.

Note to T-Steel: I don't like the silly hype about social network (all the giggling, tittering, and swelled heads) but these things themselves certainly are effective. They're fun, yes, too. (It's simply a less intensive form of media, but when I was in school I participated in state-campus-system-wide illicit "underground" social networking of the time, which correspond to chat and to comment threads on this Web site, TMV. Much of what you are seeing now is nothing new, or is just a fancier "new" version.)

Believe me, I'm as far from the "giggling, tittering, and swelled head" types as you can get. Social networking, Internet-style, is being used by so many people and groups in very effective ways. With Eternal Moonwalk, you can instantly link Facebook, Twitter, etc per video. People see that, come to the site, marvel at its coolness, and spread the word. And this isn't mentioning the actual Eternal Moonwalk idea which is just great.

A friend of mine who absolutely despises Michael Jackson due to his "situations" told me the following in an e-mail:

"MJ did invent a timeless thing in the moonwalk. Guess I can give him a little applause thanks to the wonderful Eternal Moonwalk site. Regular folks know how to have fun!"

Im a little upset about jacko's death as I'm a huge fan! but i personally feel that the media is making it last forever! everywhere you look on the front pages of every single paper its always about him . . .
granted, we will all miss him, but the media are sucking this up until there will be nothing left!
its been 3 weeks for Christ's sake! you'd think they'd of cooled down by now... i know there are people out there, like me, who don't particularly want to remember his death, yet everywhere we look, we cant seem to get away!
many people including myself, will miss him, but i think its time to move on. its been enough of a tragedy for us already, don't milk it!
he may be gone but his songs are still around and he did his best to change the world. and lets be honest, he left his mark on society.

the eternal moonwalk is great by the way, it just goes on and on and on. :)
