Palin is popular with the core Republican party, but she has very bad numbers with independents. Put her at the top of a Presidential ticket against Obama and the Republicans Party will suffer a blow they will take a decade or more to recover from.

You both know that American media in general is about the "star". Palin is the political "star" of the moment and the coverage will get the star treatment. I don't like it but....

And SD to your point about more substantial issues being talked about/reported on in general (I'm very interested in "how the changing demographic of the U.S. will affect the economy, health, education, suburban sprawl, and quality of life" myself): Americans in general have a short attention span and want that emotional connection. Michael Jackson stirs emotions. Sarah Palin stirs emotions. But detailed analysis showing trends (positive or negative) get the BORING label. It's unfortunate but it's the way things are at this moment in our country's history.

But thanks SD for that changing demographic point. I think I'll start researching that and write a series of posts. Going to take a bit but will endeavor to do my best.

CO, Who cares about Palin. Why not have 20 posts about the regulatory proposals of the Obama Administration? Why not 20 posts about how the changing demographic of the U.S. will affect the economy, health, education, suburban sprawl, and quality of life. Why not 20 posts about the death of private sector investment? Why not have 20 posts about the long term effects of the debt and unfunded entitlements. Yesterday, there was a post on 401k and most posters could not have cared less. They were not fascinated about Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin than about the financial health of the U.S.

I guess obsessing over someone who has zero chance of ever hold elected office again is just more fun that thinking about a $2 trillion dollar deficit and double digit unemployment.

I guess talking about Palin is how the left distracts itself from talking about stimulus packages, massive federal deficits, the lack of job creation, and the economic future of the U.S. While all of the upper middle class white liberals are talking about Palin, the future of the U.S. is looking more and more like a third world country where different groups will be fighting over goodies from the government and private sector job creation will be zero.

I could care less if she Palin runs in 2012 or not. Heck I don't care if Obama runs for re-election on 2012 or not. Either way, I don't see much at all from the Democrats or Republicans at the presidential level. I see much sameness. Now here on the local level, I'm excited by a several Republican and Democratic candidates. But that is local. And many of these local folks can't penetrate the “Washingtonverse”. So whatever to Palin, whatever to Obama, and whatever to whoever plans to run in 2012. Now that's a tea party I can get with: No to Democrats! No to Republicans!

I'll settle for four year term limits for Representatives and Senators. No re-election. Public service for real. Get in, do your job, get out. That's America!

Palin was vetted better in two months that Obama was in two years. For that matter, Joe The Plumber was vetted better in two weeks that Obama was in two years.

Here is a little FYI for democrats: Republicans don't give a damned what you think about Palin. If fact, the more you hate her the more we love her. Cant' wait for 2012!!!!
