Palin would be a terrible candidate, I couldn't even vote for her over Obama, and thats saying alot. I'd rather have a moderate of either party than one of those two in 2012.

Thank you, God, for giving us Sarah Palin! Even as we approach the one year anniversary of her fifteen minutes of fame, Palin continues to be the Give That Keeps On Giving to the Democratic Party. It may seem a little bit silly that we are so incredibly obsessed on a washed-up has-been (or is that a washed-out never-was?), but I am thankful that she is still around. As long as the spotlight remains focused squarely on the “Shrilla from Wasilla”, it is so very difficult to take the republican party seriously….about anything. At all.

So, please, Sarah Palin, please keep hogging the spotlight. We need you to keep the republican party look like crazy loons!

It's funny. I am pro-choice, OK with gay marriage, recognized the need for the stimulus, believe the GOP did an awful job 2000-2006, think Palin was terrible choice for VP candidate, and think GWB was a poor president. But in here people think I'm a right-winger.

Dowd and Friedman are usually good for one thing, and that's a thumb on the pulse of pundit consensus. And the consensus is that Palin a hilarious cartoon figure of a Republican who will continue to define her party with her amusing antics, unless her party mans up and banishes her to the far reaches of thought and newspapers…perhaps even as far as A18.

Count on Maureen Dowd to provide the NYT's readers with cute condescension instead of serious political analysis. But let us be thankful for MoDo — she is always exhibit number one when we need to demonstrate that professional journalists are often less serious, more polemical, and less respectful than bloggers.
