When it comes to genocide, mass murder, and other atrocities, America has been silent for too long. And it’s lack of resolve doesn’t just affect us, in fact, it affects us very little. What it does do is silence the millions of victims of government sponsored torture, murder, rape, and terror that continue on to this day and whose only hope for salvation comes from an international community that, for better or for worse (and present spats notwithstanding), still looks to America for guidance. And when we do nothing more besides give “condemnations” and 5 minute spots on the evening news, that’s as bad as doing nothing at all.

We cry and sigh, but they still die.

I resolve to be silent no longer.
