So what if David Letterman apologized to Sarah Palin and if she did accept his apology? Apology, aschmology…in American politics, some people can’t turn down a chance for some good ‘ol, fashioned hate.
Who could pass up chance to chance to attend a bona fide, “Fire David Letterman” rally right after he apologized and Palin accepted his apology?
Apparently hundreds of people (but who wants to quibble about that?).
To be sure, it wasn’t a rally as impressive (15 people) as what we’ve seem this week see in Iran and if the media had not been there (35 people) it wouldn’t have gotten much media play (perhaps a special wide angle lens like the one some suspect the government in Iran is using to bloat images of the pro-government rallies could have been useful: then it would have looked as if 50 demonstrators had showed up).
The folks outraged about Letterman making an inappropriate and they felt hateful joke actually turned out to be terrific role models — for what graduating high schoolers and college students who want to discuss politics might aspire to not become as they staged what The Huffington Post called a “hatefest.” Here’s a tiny taste of the bile 4 U:
Among the more alarming lines of attack — particularly given that the rally was held because Letterman supposedly made a joke about Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter Willow — was that Letterman’s son Harry was born out of wedlock (he recently wed Regina Lasko after dating for over a decade).
“Should we talk about his son?” one protester asked Green. “I believe his son was born out of wedlock. I believe there’s a term for that.”
“Is someone making jokes about his child?” asked another. “Especially, you know, when he had a daughter out of wedlock himself” (he didn’t; 5-year-old Harry is his only child).
“How dare he?” asked yet a third, the most offensive of all. “When he has a bastard son, and a slut for a wife” (Letterman’s wife Lasko has kept a notoriously low profile).
…..Other conservative talking points thrown around at the rally included, “Close the borders!” and “I only watch Fox News,” as well as the general sentiment that Jay Leno is a better host than Letterman.
Go to the link, which also has a video.
But be sure to hide impressionable kids who you hope might grow up to be able to discuss disagreements without foaming at the mouth.
On the other hand, kindergartners and preschoolers might relate to a video showing a bunch of angry big kids with wrinkles who feel that if someone calls you a bad name, you respond by screaming about it — then turn around and call them a bad name, too.
Letterman should just shut up and sing.
Same for the Palin's. This is now just about press for her and her fans.
Palin just loves the attention..anything to get her back in the national spotlight.
The huge turnout at the Fire Dave! rallies show how much people really care about her.
Dave, getting a bump from the “controversy” by admitting he crossed a line, & apologized = win
Palin, trying to milk said controversy = fail
Palin has played you guys like a cheap fiddle. This should have been a “who cares” event, but the media hypes it as today's great debate, and even the Moderate Voice Editor in Chief takes the bait (sadly).
Fifteen protesters you say? Then why in the world are you talking about it?? Good lord, you can find 15 protesters on any subject in this country on any given day. Just two weeks ago, Palin couldn't have gotten her mug on TV unless she paid top dollar for every minute. So she instead throws a fake hissy fit against a late night talk show host and sure enough, the media takes the bait and puts her back on TV front and center. Just where she wants to be…
The media (apparently including the Moderate Voice) are eager suckers playing into Palin's nothing-to-lose hand. She saw an cheap avenue to get back in the limelight and the media are dumb enough to shine it on her. Palin played you guys for patsies.
You liberals are all the same….childish. It's called empathy. Without it slavery would still run rampant, women couldn't vote and welfare wouldnt pay for your internet connection to make hate comments towards right wingers. If you disagree, disagree but to try and cheapen whats important to us by saying Palin has us fooled shows that you have no clue what the issue is. Just crawl back into your liberal bubble and fight for causes you believe in and dismiss as “who cares” the ones you aren't interested in.

Anyone who reads TMV's stable of leftist haters certainly knows the unintended and ironic truth of this statement.

So that's the little bastids name …. “Hairy” Letterman. How appropriate. I wonder if A-Rod will put a move on the lil bastid when its Children's Day at Yankee Stadium.

Some (if not many, or most) on this Web site find trivia like this, routinely hyped and exploited by liberals, to be more important than issues like the new federal financial initiative the Obama team is engineering. I've been on and off this Web site looking at the past two days' material and haven't seen one thread on this, the most important issue to date, followed by health care. People here are more concerned not with important issues but with a Republican Congressman's affair, any excuse to whine and express more hatred for Palin (the Left is overwhelmingly the locus of hatred, or “hate” as they often say, in the world more than the Right has been, is, or ever will be), to obscess about techno-giggly PC-tech Twitter in Iran, or spend time on other issues that make this liberal Web site often the “Liberal Enquirer” than its obviously false actual name, the Moderate Voice. (“Moderates” = liberals who simply avoid most extremism but don't question any long-standing liberal policy stances and of course adore Obama)
