Patrick, nothing wrong with the post. Just amused me, as CO said, that there's another post and the point is enough with the posts. As for the content of this entire flap, as the first commenter of the first thread, I said basically, a comedian made a bad joke. What a shocker. And ended my comments on that thread with 'who cares?'

If those on the right think this is a matter of national importance, or if those on the left think bad jokes about them are, well, what can I say but GROW UP.

We have become a country full of babies- liberal and conservative both. Liberals are babies about every little minority group that gets offended because of some sort of racial remark or joke, and conservatives are constantly wining about morality and protecting values. It's a complete joke. Whether it's "nappy-headed hoes" or the daughter of a conservative puppet who parades her family and her family values around the country on full display... I'm sick of it all. The funny part about it is each party is really doing the same thing and using the same tactics- the only difference is the issue at hand. When Imus was fired it was from pressure by ultra libs, led by the sensationalist rantings of Al Sharpton. Now it is the same thing, but just on the other side.

I actually felt sorry for Palin at first, the way she was used by the party to target a particular demographic that they couldn't reach otherwise- but at the same time she seemed more than happy to primp and preen herself around, extolling her "aw shucks" family values. She is as pandering to the base as the Clinton's are/were to the Dem base, and she deserves what she gets.

Pushing for the firing of Letterman or Imus is everyone's right as a citizen, but it is sad to me that people are wasting their time with this. The fact that people are so caught up in this issue (on either side) tells me that we have really lost our way. Let's stop being babies and crying about everything that offends us, conservative and liberals alike.

People need to remember that Willow, not Bristol, was on the trip with Palin. Had both daughters been there, Letterman apologists would have a much better argument that Dave meant Bristol. Sadly, Bristol WASN'T there, only the 14 year old Willow was at the game.

The Palin's have a completely logical argument when they say that Dave meant Willow...why??? Because Willow was there and Bristol wasn't.

Was Dave referring to Bristol? Yes. Did Dave know that only Willow was there? No.
But that is his mistake.

And when did people's children become fair game in this country. Not even the mafia attacks family.

DAVID LETTERMAN'S HATE, ETC. !

David Letterman's hate is as old as some ancient Hebrew prophets.
Speaking of anti-Semitism, it's Jerry Falwell and other fundy leaders who've gleefully predicted that in the future EVERY nation will be against Israel (an international first?) and that TWO-THIRDS of all Jews will be killed, right?
Wrong! It's the ancient Hebrew prophet Zechariah who predicted all this in the 13th and 14th chapters of his book! The last prophet, Malachi, explains the reason for this future Holocaust that'll outdo even Hitler's by stating that "Judah hath dealt treacherously" and "the Lord will cut off the man that doeth this" and asks "Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother?"
Haven't evangelicals generally been the best friends of Israel and Jewish persons? Then please explain the recent filthy, hate-filled, back-stabbing tirades by David Letterman (and Sandra Bernhard) against a leading evangelical named Sarah Palin, and explain why most Jewish leaders have seemingly condoned Palin's continuing "crucifixion"!
While David and Sandra are tragically turning comedy into tragedy, they are also helping to speed up and fulfill the Final Holocaust a la Zechariah and Malachi, thus helping to make the Bible even more believable!
(For even more stunning information, visit MSN and type in "Separation of Raunch and State" and "Bible Verses Obama Avoids.")

Non-issue. Sarah hasn't had any press in awhile, good or otherwise. Letterman gave her a chance to get a few headlines here in the lower 48, and she took it. Now, however, she's sort of the dinner guest who won't leave.

any particular reason my title is amusing ?

Perhaps it has something to do with writing another article complaining there are too many articles already

However, now that Letterman is doing a full apology on his upcoming show tonight, despite all the advice from the lefties here not to worry about it, you can write another article covering that in the morning.

Shorter version: Late night comedian tells lame joke about politician.

Unfortunately Palin and her supporters are being deliberately obtuse regarding the "misunderstanding" in the joke and are enraged due to their lack of comedy comprehension.

Dave's apology should have been along the lines of, "I'm profoundly sorry that you're an idiot that could get confused and outraged reading a corn flakes box."

The reason it doesn't seem to die for me show in some of the replies. I think it's wrong to take shots at minor children of politicians. Period. It has nothing to do with Palin or Limbuah or any other crap. If it is wrong then it's wrong. So why when it comes up are there so many reasons that since it's Palin her daughter deserves it, and the GOP causes it, and blah blah blah. Partisan hypocrites. Mind you it would be the same if it went the other way with a liberal politician.

Conservatives and Christians who are vocalizing about this debacle: Where is your moral outrage about the sickening spew that has been flying forth from Limbaugh's mouth for YEARS! He is actually being talked about as potential "face of the GOP" Good LORD people! You are rallying against Dave because he insulted Palin's family and NOT because he made a crass joke that has offended your deepest sense of moral indignation. If your true reason for rallying is to put a stop to this sort of vile on-air commentary then you MUST make an equally loud brouhaha about Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Mike Reagan and all the rest. My guess is many of you are regular listeners to at least one of them! HYPOCRISY !

Mike Reagan talked about blowing up Islamic babies by putting grenades up their butts. Rush is infamous for his racist comments ( Limbaugh: "I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark." Glenn Beck blathering on about how he's come to hate the victims of 9/11. It is a multi-million dollar industry built around hatred being stepped over the air waves as entertainment!

If you rally against Dave and not against Rush, Beck, Mike Reagan and the rest then you have NO right so make one more posting or speak one more syllable about this issue. Not ONE!

I don't see why people think Letterman "apologized" last wednesday night, he merely explained he meant to slur the older, 18 year old daughter by calling her a slut, not the 14 year old one. Then proceeded to act the the hurt, injured party. How difficult is it for Letterman to make a sincere apology and move on? The Palin's are quite right to put up a stink for having either of their children slurred. Why is that so hard for people to understand? A lot of the worlds problems can be cleared up by a sincere "I'm sorry, I hope you accept my apology. I was wrong" See, how hard was that?

A lot of the worlds problems can be cleared up by a sincere “I'm sorry, I hope you accept my apology. I was wrong” See, how hard was that?

/yawn

As off color and stupid of a joke as it was, it was obvious which daughter Letterman was talking about. I was right there with everyone else saying it was too low of a joke and that he should apologize which he did. The continued fake umbrage from Palin and company is funny.

"This is how free speech works, he says what he thinks, you say what you think, but you don’t fire someone for being stupid. We’ve got many better things to discuss than a nasty old guy in Manhattan."

Of course we do, but some would rather continue to have a temper tantrum over this instead of acting like adults and moving onto more important issues.

The Letterman/Palin controversy is more of opportunity for conservatives than anything else.

It’s an opportunity to stand up and be counted denouncing a scum bag. It’s an opportunity to be counted standing with Palin while the cheap, gutless response is to agree with Peggy Noonans and Kathleen Parkers.

Liberals are scared stiff of this woman, with good reason. Petty elitism always comes through in its most unflattering light when it attacks someone like Palin.

The last person that was so derided by the left won the Presidency with 44 states.
