By all accounts, Muslims are cautiously optimistic after hearing President Obama’s speech to Muslims, which he delivered last week from Cairo. But according to Kader Abdolah of the Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant, their biggest concern is that he’ll never succeed in accomplishing his goals due to resistance from Americans and Israelis.
For de Volkskrant, Abdolah writes in part:
“Obama put himself in a vulnerable position. His speech was a relief for millions of Muslims, but I also heard other sounds: ‘He can’t do it. Those in America won’t let him. He doesn’t get it.’
“He is a unique person being, but he doesn’t know America and he’s in too deep to see it. If you sit too close to a rock, you can no longer see the mountain. Obama hasn’t seen America from a distance; so he doesn’t understand this mountain.”
“Obama will need the magic rod of Moses and divine power of Jesus to breathe life into Palestinian sovereignty. … Muslims had tears in their eyes when Obama spoke to them from Egypt, but the overriding feeling was: ‘Obama doesn’t yet know Israel.’”

Obama has kept another of his election promises; he went to Egypt to speak to the Muslim world. Thanks to him, America has a new character. His presence in the White House has given easterners a good feeling.I expected Obama’s words of reconciliation to the Muslim world, and especially Iran, to soften Iran’s powerbrokers toward America. But just the opposite occurred – their reaction was even tougher than during the Bush Administration.

This is correct. The good old boys in Texas/Israel will not concede their oil holdings so easily.
His real war will be from within. The real enemy is greed, masquerading as a “religious cause”..
Lovely cartoon. Netanyahu as the pharisee and all.
Actually, silhouette, you are correct. Obama's biggest enemies are from within.
After today's shooting at the museum and the fact that those who are tracking the extremist movements, there is alot of ugliness coming from domestic rather then foreign terror.
The middle east is at once confused, excited and afraid of our new president. They hope he means what he says about a new beginning but, are afraid to hope.
I did find out in the World Meet Us, with other articles on the Obama speech that the so called bow Obama gave to the Saudi King a couple months ago is an expression of respect from a younger to an older man, especially in Asia (Obama spent his developmental years and probably learned this well in Indonesia.) You bow to the older man to show respect from a younger man
Obama's speech in Cairo was just pandering, appeasement – nothing but half-truths, outright distortions, historical inaccuracies & falsehoods. Exactly what should be expected of Obama since this is basically what he does on domestic issues as well. White-washing Islam is the same as white-washing any other totalitarian ideology – dispicable & intellectually dishonest. Obama is a fraud.
Chicagotrance – If you want to be considered serious then state specifically what your objections to Obama's speech were. Which statements are half-truths, distortions, and falsehoods. Spewing a bunch of deraogatory adjectives tells us less than nothing and is a waste of bandwidth.
The picture should be Obama throwing Isreal under the bus!
