Text messages are very useful, but they're nothing special and neither is Twitter. If you ever get the chance to see or read what people say in so many text messages on that vastly overhyped thing (or other text messages not on it), you'll see that most of the material doesn't even deserve to be called "filler" or "fluff," and that vast numbers of these people have remarkably little English skills and engage in childish practices like substituting numerals for properly spelled syllables or portions of words. Vast over-hype, low-IQ content. [yawn]

I don't see how this is a surprise to anyone. How is this different than any other social network? I have around 150 friends on Facebook, but 10-20 of them make up most of the content I see. I'm on Twitter, but I use it as a sort of news ticker, not as a way to talk to friends. I know plenty of people like this.

It was only recently that I finally got onto Twitter. That only a small percentage account for the majority of the content is common sense and you can put your bottom dollar on Twitter growing as people like me find a niche that Twitter can satisfy and more sites push their Twitter feeds onto a wider audience.
