Thanks, Mikkel. I know I posed a conundrum, but you have given me some good food for thought.

Dorian

Will let you know what I did--and the results---in a couple of months

Well while I'm hesitant to say what you "should" do, what I would do is sell...if the market goes up high enough to change the direction of the moving average, then when it falls again it will do one of two things: meet the rising 200 day MA (in which you'd buy back in if it bounced off that) OR fall but turn back up before it hit the 200 day. In that cause as long as the pull back was >3% I'd buy if it made a new high by 2% or more.

If the first happened, your entry point would probably be only 3-5% higher than today, and if the second it would be more like 5-8% higher. In either case you'd be giving up some potential, but the next phase of the bull market would go up anywhere from 30-100%, so you're giving up very little. On the flip side, the market could easily dump 20% right here and not even be unusual from a technical perspective.

A Stock Market Primer | The Moderate Voice...

I play the stock market for a hobby (and also because it helps me take in revenue that allows me to work at a job that I enjoy but pays little) most of the time....
