"Newt Gingrich ... cautioned conservatives for using litmus tests ..."

He may be deluding himself, but he's the premier imposer of litmus tests on national security issues. If you aren't excited about dropping a nuclear bomb on Meccah, you should immediately leave the GOP.

I'm just waiting for the 2010 midterm elections because if California is any indication, the voters will demonstrate just how sick they are of the Democrat grab for power on the left. Just because the Dems control the media swamps doesn't mean that ridiculous schlumphs like Pelosi and Reid won't be refuted en masse. Just like Clinton did '92-'94, the Dems are overreaching again and think they've cleaned out the Republicans. This time Peter Jennings won't be around to accuse the American people of having a "temper tantrum."

Those faux moderate blogs and the zany lefties are already blowing taps, but it just might be like in '64, when Newsweak famously proclaimed the Republicans were dead. Four years later, guess who beat Hubert Horatio Humperdinck?

History has an interesting way of repeating itself, or at least rhyming every decade or so.

When the guiding lights of the Republican party are Cheney, Limbaugh, Rove, Gingrich, Savage, Levin, Beck, Hannity, Coulter and Malkin, is it any wonder the general public has rejected them?

The best thing that the Republican Party could do to regain credibility with the general public would be to put Dick Cheney and Rush Limbaugh into a burlap bag and throw them into the nearest river.

No, better yet, waterboard them, and see what they say. After all, waterboarding is not torture.
