jwest does kind of bring up a point, namely can you make good judgments on issues when you are provided with two perspectives, one from each extreme? It's not easy, especially when you have to separate out opinions from facts.

Almost all sources are not really providing you with information, they're trying to support a viewpoint. Invariably this means leaving things out, minimizing some points and emphasizing others, and often outright misrepresentation.

Jwest -- McClatchy, like you, may in fact be biased, but they did a much better job sourcing their point-counterpoint than Newbusters. Each to his own, I suppose.

The media and others (including on here) are hyping the "duel" and are too busy using their presidential knee pads to acknowledge the real issues, such as that Obama as well as Cheney scolded the nuttier leftists here who still bear a demented grudge against Bush and Cheney.

None of them would have said that Obama should have also offered to cede Guantanamo to Cuba after closing the prison. That's asking far too much of them. (Nor do they worry about the green smile-faced fascism in Detroit...)

Pete,

If you are going to cite McClatchy Newspapers, why not print a transcript of some “independent, totally non-partisan” person – like Lawrence O’Donnell?

Here is Newsbusters account of McClatchy’s article as it mimicked the DNC talking points.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/p-j-gladnick/2009/...

Look, if you are going to be the token “right winger” (but still Obama voter) at TMV, you should at least make a cursory effort to present something with a little balance. Right now we get Shaun, Shaun-lite and Shaun in a skirt.
