		<description>The idea that the Republicans can remain in power by becoming Democratic-lite is laughable.  It is based upon the incorrect assumption that social conservative will behave the same as blacks and Hispanics.  The DLC idea worked because blacks, Jews, gays, government employees,  and Hispanics will vote for the Democrats no matter what.  So the DLC could push for NAFTA and welfare reform and blacks still voted for &#039;Democrats at a 95% rate.&lt;br&gt;The idea that the Republicans can remain in power by becoming Democratic-lite is laughable.
