DaGoat, and we know how that worked out don't we? I think this is going to be a pretty big problem for the administration as the deadline gets closer. I know of several states that are crafting legislation that forbids the Feds from bringing the inmates in (my state, SC, being one of them). I've asked several times before just where are we about to ship these inmates to, and no one seems to be able to give an answer.

jchem you read my mind. Obama has shown a tendency to shoot from the hip on policy and worry about specifics later kind of like well, George Bush.

I think what McCain said makes sense. Saying you are closing the place is one thing, but it's meaningless if you have no idea how you are going to do it. Reminds me a bit of the Iraq war, remember the one we went into without a plan? Besides, McCain can go ahead and punt on this issue–he lost.

Of course McCain is on both sides of this issue. As with most issues and McCain, it just depends on who he is talking to at that time. A McCain administration would have been as big a disaster as Bush, just as crazy but even less disciplined.

McCain is just one of many to point out the administration's rookie mistake. He really deserves no particular note over the others who have done so.

Who cares what McCain thinks or what the Repubicans say. They are both irrelevant to politics and governance in the U.S. The only quesiton is where the the former detainees end up and who will be responsible for their future actions.
